Recently, I've been
thinking a lot about the importance of being established.
I have not been
established in my own life because I have been living in two completely different
places for several years. I tried my hardest to grow roots in
both places, but many times, I would be in one place and would miss an
opportunity in the other. Leading a dual life in two places does
not come without it's frustrations.
We were always
living out of a suitcase, and usually we would forget at least one thing and
have to go a week without it or buy another one depending on what we forgot.
Sometimes we had to drive all the way back if it was a cell phone.
After several years
of the dual life, finally, it has come to an end.
A couple of months
ago, our circumstances miraculously changed for us, and now we are in one place. We can already see how we are beginning to
flourish in our one place.
There's something
very good and very Godly about being established.
I looked up the
word "established" in the King James Bible and it is mentioned 119
times. It talks about the Lord establishing
the heavens, kings and those in authority. It talks about our thoughts and our
career being established. When we are not established, we have no
walls, no security, and no direction.
Think about the
importance of being established even in the way things in the world are arranged
-- politically it is imperative to have a good tried and true honest government
in place so that there is order and safety for all its citizens (sounds ideal I
know but it is necessary). It is crucial to avoid invasion from
people that may have an evil intent. History records such atrocities.
The laws are all
put in place for our safety and security.
You could say the
world is established by the laws of God or we would all be in danger and have
no peace and security. There would be no justice system or
prisons for dangerous criminals.
We would live with
fear and uncertainty, and this is a reality already in many countries that have
no gun control or trained and active military.
The heavens are
established and the sun and stars are all hanging in their proper place or we
would be instantly killed by a fall out of stars in a chaotic universe.
The Lord establishes us
because He wants order in our lives, and He needs us to be stable for the great
work ahead of us for winning the lost.
Without being
established very little is accomplished.
Perhaps you are
like me, and you dream about travel and getting away.
But is this just a
way of running away from the place where God has placed us?
Do we need rest?
God will give us
rest in our place of establishment.
The Lord enlarges our
territory when we are faithful to Him and committed to where He has placed us.
Read Luke 19:10-27 to
see how God rewards faithfulness.
Luk 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant:
because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten
cities.
In our new life in
our one place, we believe one of the most important things, is that we have been
attending an evangelical Bible-believing church.
Here we have been
blessed with great fellowship and a solid teaching of God's precious Word.
I recently
discovered that in addition to all the benefits of new friends and fellowship,
it comes with an even further blessing.
Psa 92:13 Those that be planted in the
house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
The importance of
being committed where God has physically placed us where we live, work, and
fellowship cannot be overemphasized.
For if we are
Bible-believing Christians, this is where God wants to use us to bring Him much
fruit that is everlasting.
